Powerful movements are not created by organizations or clever individuals; powerful movements are grounded in powerful ideas. The most powerful idea ever spoken became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1); Jesus taught that anyone who hears His words and puts them into practice is wise, whereas those who reject His word are foolish builders.
Rescue those who are being taken to death
WHAT WE DO
Our aim is to...
Proclaim that Christ is King
We seek to contrast two visions of reality and morality and demonstrate how one vision, the Christian view, centered on God, leads to the humane and dignified treatment of human beings, while the other view, centered on man, leads to the inhumane and undignified treatment of human beings.
Offer love and support
Through our clinic based ministry we reach out to actively aborting mothers with the offer of physical, emotional, financial and other support. We plead with them to have mercy on their child and point them to the hope that can be found through the Gospel.
Seek equal protection under the law
Following in the footsteps of former abolitionist movements, we aim to end one of the greatest human miseries and moral evils ever to be entrenched in our world. We lobby our political representatives to introduce bills at Stormont and Westminster that will lead to the total and immediate abolition of abortion.
Engage the body of Christ
Throughout history the Church has been at the forefront of abolishing societal evils. The fight against abortion should be no different.
We are a collective of people from across reformed denominations in Northern Ireland. As such we reach out to all reformed denominations, encouraging and equipping them to bring the Gospel into conflict with the culture of death.
We're not Pro-Life...
We, as an abolitionist organisation, agree with the pro-life position that abortion is bad, but further, we believe abortion is murder and ought to be treated as such. While many who call themselves pro-life agree with us that abortion is murder, abortion has not been opposed by the pro-life political establishment in a manner consistent with its being murder. The manner in which abortion has been opposed by pro-life lobbyists and politicians has not only been inadequate and largely unfruitful, but cannot be fruitful for it betrays the very foundations of the case against laws allowing abortion.
IN THE KNOW
Recent articles from CARE (1, 2) and secular organisation The Minimise Project (3) have attempted to discredit the abolitionist stance of CBR NI. One common theme in both, however, is that they have attempted to sully the name of one of the greatest abolitionists of all time - William Wilberforce.
On the 16th of February Paul Givan presented the Severe Fetal Impairment Abortion (Amendment) Bill to Stormont in what CARE, whose policy team in London created the Bill, called 'a crucial first step in reclaiming our life-affirming laws.'
